An Inspiring Morning with Ilene Evans
Story. Music. Rhythm. Memory.
The African Australian Advocacy Centre invites the community to join storyteller Ilene Evans for an inspiring morning exploring the power of story through music, rhythm and rhyme.
Drawing on African and African diaspora storytelling traditions, Ilene brings history, movement, memory and oral tradition together in an engaging live storytelling experience.
Her stories travel across people and places — from the story of Harriet Tubman and Cape Coast Castle to songs and experiences shared with women in Tanzania.
This gathering offers an opportunity to listen, reflect and experience storytelling as a way of carrying history, culture and memory across generations.
